The platform is hosted on Google Cloud and will serve all post-paid and enterprise customers
Amdocs says it has completed a project to provide WindTre with a 5G-ready monetisation solution deployed on Google Cloud.
Amdocs claims it to be “one of largest telecom monetisation implementations to date on Google Cloud” and that, in line with the strategy WindTre’s strategy, equips it with an API-based IT infrastructure.
The converged solution will serve all WindTre post-paid consumer and enterprise customers, across all lines of business.
The intention is for the operator to benefit from greater efficiency and reduced operational complexity, while gaining better control of revenue flow, greater insight into customers’ profiles and behaviour, and access to billing data in close to real time.
Expanded 5G coverage
In March, WindTre outlined its expanded 5G coverage after announcing a joint venture with Iliad Italia in January, called Zefiro Net. WindTre’s 5G time division duplexing (TDD) network covers 67.2% of the population and its frequency division duplexing (FDD) covers 95.9% of the population in 5G mode.
Carlo Melis, Chief Technology Officer at WindTre, commented, “This project with Amdocs and Google Cloud supports our mission while accelerating our move to the cloud and ensuring we have the flexibility and agility to innovate, launching new offerings at speed. Its completion represents an exciting milestone for WindTre and our customers.”
Anthony Goonetilleke, Group President of Technology and Head of Strategy at Amdocs, added, “WindTre understood the massive potential of cohesive, unified experiences to better meet the needs of both consumer and enterprise customers.”
“Google Cloud is committed to helping telecommunication companies transform by accelerating their growth, competitiveness, and digital journeys,” said Don Tirsell, Global Head, Strategic Partnerships, Google Cloud.
