The Aussie telco is currently reviewing applicants with a decision later in the year
Australian incumbent Telstra is continuing to reshuffle its international operations executives following its CEO Oliver Camplin-Warner’s promotion to head up the telco’s professional services and integration arm Telstra Purple last month.
As head of Telstra Purple, Camplin-Warner has returned to Australia from Singapore after holding the International CEO position for nearly five years.
The telco is recruiting a new London-based head of EMEA to lead its business across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. The strategic leadership role, with a “local-CEO” remit, will oversee a team of around 130 people and be responsible for the region’s P&L, revenue growth, and customer engagement.
The new EMEA boss will report to Telstra International CEO Roary Stasko who replaced Camplin-Warner. “The head of EMEA role is important to lead our business across Europe, the Middle East and Africa and is responsible for the region’s growth and customer engagement, contributing to our overall Telstra International and T25 [company transformation programme] strategies,” said Stasko. “We are currently reviewing applications and expect to make a decision in the coming months.”
While Telstra’s extensive APAC undersea cable network – and it’s new Digicel Pacific acquisition – tend to grab all the attention, it is still operating in 22 countries. Outside its London headquarters in EMEA, it has offices in Cambridge UK, Paris, Munich, Stockholm. In London’s Docklands it also has its London Hosting Centre/TBS Media hub/Telstra Security Centre.
The London Broadcast media hub is designed to provide access to Telstra’s network of more than 2500 global customer sites, venues, and remote production hubs, as well as connectivity into 19 major global media network providers, many of which are in the UK and Continental Europe.
It also connects to Telstra’s broadcast hubs in Pittsburgh, Hong Kong and Sydney offering global coverage and 24/7 global service assurance for customers.
The new EMEA head will partner with both Telstra’s global heads of Enterprise and Wholesale, with a specific domain expertise across financial services and the broadcast sector. On the wholesale front, the telco will look for service provider and potentially government customers wanting to reach what the telco said is the largest wholly owned subsea cable network in the Asia-Pacific.
