Telekom Deutschland’s CFO takes helm at German enterprise unit

Klaus Werner is a veteran with almost 30 years’ experience at Deutsche Telekom

Klaus Werner will assume the role of Managing Director for Business Customers at Telekom Deutschland on 14 October. He is currently MD of Finance, where he has overseen revenues of €24.5 billion, and replaces Hagen Rickmann who is leaving the company after almost 15 years. Rickmann is credited with the Digital initiative, launched last November to target SMEs. At the same time, it consolidated DT Global Business with Solution Sales and Engineering to target cross-border B2B market.

The enterprise unit has sales of about €9 billion and 10,500 employees. Werner is to focus on delivering more digital solutions, such as security, and broadening the portfolio in mobile and fixed networks, and ITC.

Werner will continue to report directly to Srini Gopalan, who is a member of Deutsche Telekom’s board. He has worked for the operator for almost 30 years in a variety of roles, having joined in 1994 with a degree in economics.as a controller within T-Mobile Deutschland.

In 2001, Werner moved to Group Controlling at Deutsche Telekom where he assumed responsibility for T-Mobile US and other mobile subsidiaries in Europe.

He founded the Telekom Shop unit then became CFO in 2005, also becoming CIO with the aim of improving customer experience. In 2008, Werner became CFO of T-Systems International, which had revenues of €10 billion in 22 countries. He moved to the position of

CFO at Telekom Deutschland in 2014.
