Massive demand for better comms in multi-dwelling units
Europe’s mobile network operators could win many new customers in towns and cities by lifting the curse of bad reception that bedevils many residents of apartments blocks. Now apartment dwellers could get a much better communications services with a new invention from Plume, a US customer personalisation specialist that wants to channel its sales through mobile operators.
The Uprise service made by Plume uses artificial intelligence (AI) to find out what they want and pervasive cloud computing to deliver it. Residents of Multi-Dwelling Units (MDUs), including flats, multi-family abodes and other high-density living spaces, want high capacity, reliable and secure services, says Plume, but the impersonal nature of their buildings means that it’s hard to deliver to them.
These MDUs represent a significant proportion of European homes but the infrastructure and fragmented telecoms offerings result in woeful Internet performance, expensive property buildouts and outdated experiences for tenants. Uprise tackles these issues by giving property managers and comms services providers the power to ‘deliver a premium experience to tenants in a flexible way’, according to Plume, the maker of the HomePass and WorkPass security management software.
Uprise offers new services that allow property managers and communications service providers (CSPs) to personalise customer experiences while cutting their costs with better hardware options and lower capital outlay. Uprise allows property managers to track their tenants’ connectivity and to control everything from a single portal. Adaptive wireless and AI-driven cybersecurity make wi-fi available in all areas such as pools, gyms and lobbies. Another function, Harmony, uses optimisation algorithms that minimise Wi-Fi interference, while a Private Property SSID and an Open Community SSID help to separate users more securely.
In Europe urban living is blighted by the fact that apartment dwellers are cursed by inconsistent Internet connection, fragmentation of systems and costly comms bills according to David Huynh, the chief product officer of Plume. “Our easy-to-deploy system [helps] CSPs to provide a leading and personalized customer experience, delivered with the highest degree of flexibility and hardware independence,” said Huynh.
