Swisscom and IT services provider Trivadis are partnering to offer Database-as-a-Service from autumn 2019.
Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) is a cloud-based approach to storing and administering data. It is a managed and fully automated service that provides access to a database via the network, and is charged on a usage-based model.
Trivadis will develop and operate the Database-as-a-Service platform, while Swisscom will provide its Swisscom Cloud.
Fewer interfaces
The companies say their partnership will support customers over the entire value chain, with fewer interfaces helping to reduce complexity and costs. They note that as well as the benefits inherent in databases, the cloud services will offer flexibility, scalability and high availability as well as data security and a high quality data management.
Christian Mugg, Head of the Cloud & Data Centre product management at Swisscom, said, “This partnership not only enables our customers to give up the management of the databases and thus to focus on their core business, but also to be able to rely on the secure Swiss cloud from Swisscom.”
Sebastian Bloch, Head of Managed Services at Trivadis, added, “Trivadis has over 25 years of experience in managed services and supports more than 280 Service Level Agreements per year with customers from various industries. We’re very pleased to be able to provide these database services on the basis of Oracle from the Swisscom Cloud in future
