Sunrise beams connectivity management platform for IoT

Global infrastructure builders from France to the USA are facing objections. Is it time for a charm offensive?

The platform simplifies the management of devices that are connected through the IoT and their data.

The connectivity management platform (CMP) enable Sunrise’s IoT customers to autonomously activate and manage SIM cards at the click of a mouse – from 50 up to 100,000 connections.

Existing applications can be integrated through an Application Programming Interface (API).

The service includes secure and location-independent data access with real-time data analytics. Personalised reporting is an additional option

The IoT solution can be tailored to individual needs on demand, using Sunrise IoT connect.

The IoT connect platform is hosted in Swiss data centres, with redundancy built in, to ensure maximum security and availability.

Range of connection techs

Sunrise’s mobile offers connectivity options from 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G as well as NB-IoT and Cat-M1. This applies internationally as well, due to partnerships including with Vodafone.

National and international rate plans are available for IoT connections.

Indoor Coverage as a Service (ICaaS) reduces transmission and capacity bottlenecks, according to Sunrise, with this new service guaranteeing 3G, 4G, 5G mobile reception inside buildings.

IoT already in action

Sunrise already supports:

Smart manufacturing which is used by the international industrial company GF Machining Solutions and combines IoT and 5G. It provides high-precision manufacturing technologies, making machines that other companies use for the manufacture of products or components. Innovative process optimisation enables uninterrupted production. The system can predict – almost in real-time – when a machine needs maintenance and intervention. Unplanned downtime can be reduced, machine uptime is extended and costs are cut.

Smart farming enables using less fertilizers and pesticides, places greater focus on animal welfare, and higher yields. At Tänikon (Thurgau), Agroscope, Sunrise and Huawei are trying out the latest IoT technologies via 5G. Monitoring cows’ eating habits via a sensor on their collars, means their welfare can be monitored with great accuracy and allow illnesses to be detected quickly to ensure they get proper care. Healthy animals are more productive.

Drones and robots in the field can be controlled and monitored in real time. They provide data on the growth of plants. The in-depth knowledge enables farmers to use resources more sparingly and is engage in an environmentally friendly means of producing food.

Smart stadia – 5G, new LAN and Wi-Fi infrastructure are turning St. Jakob-Park in Basel into a smart stadium. The technologies can provide an individual experience for each spectator through facilities like instant replay, multi-camera functions, virtual stadium visits, and more.
