Procera Networks has launched a new product allowing operators to get real-time quality of experience information about a radio access network’s performance.
The vendor is planning to sell RAN Perspectives, which is available for beta testing and is expected to launch in Q1 2015, on a subscription basis. It is planning to roll out a number of features for the product during the next 12 months including analytics for quality, congestion, applications and not-spots, which can be used by the marketing and engineering teams, and a solution that will provide subscriber data for its customer care teams.
Other features include RAN congestion management, which is based on real-time data analysis, and location-based service plan propositions.
Shira Levine, Directing Analyst, Service Enablement and Subscriber Intelligence at Infonetics Research, said: “The proliferation of mobile devices coupled with the expanding use of data-intensive applications such as mobile video has led to increasing congestion in the RAN that can dramatically reduce subscriber QoE.
“A device-based solution such as RAN Perspectives has the potential to more effectively manage congestion while enabling a broad array of additional services, solutions and applications, which could have dramatic implications for mobile networks.”
Alexander Haväng, CTO of Procera Networks, said: “RAN Perspectives was developed to solve one of the biggest challenges for mobile operators, providing real-time location and quality information in a cost-effective manner that they can use to deliver higher quality mobile broadband services.
“RAN Perspectives is the first Procera product designed specifically for mobile Subscriber quality of experience, and integrates tightly into our existing PacketLogic solutions, including our Customer Care Insights offering that can now deliver real-time forensics on the RAN connection as well as on the data connection for mobile devices.”
