Orange Polska opts for ADTRAN’s Fiber Extension for faster broadband

Poland’s largest operator is accelerating its broadband roll-out for homes and businesses with G.fast tech.

Orange Polska has chosen ADTRAN’s GFast fibre extension solutions: Michal Wal, Director, Fixed Access Networks at Orange Polska, said, “Orange Polska’s ambition is to reach several thousand additional customers per year with faster broadband services, which we believe will improve their quality of life and allow more people to benefit from the Gigabit Society.”

He added, “ADTRAN was able to deliver the right solution, at scale, that will enable us to best serve our customers and achieve our network service goals today and into the future.”

FTTB, no change to GPON

The vendor said its Gfast technology portfolio will accelerate the availability of symmetric gigabit service rates in Fibre-to-the-Building (FTTB) applications.

The company added that, “seamless fibre extension options that can be deployed without…any costly and time-consuming IT adaptation of the…GPON [gigibit passive optical network] fibre networks, accelerating the availability of gigabit services while saving the service provider time and effort.

Orange Polska has the country’s most extensive infrastructure, with 15.3 million mobile customers, and 2.6 million fixed broadband customers. Its fibre network reaches 40% of all Polish households. Orange Polska runs its own R&D labs, and offer IoT, ICT and cyber security solutions.
