Luxembourg gets virtual version – real life version to follow
Orange Luxembourg (OL) has opened an Orange Digital Center (ODC) in the heart of the Luxembourg Metaverse district of Cyberspace. From this virtual space, the operator will support start-ups, raise awareness of the new opportunities and encourage creative people to explore the possibilities of this unexplored and misunderstood territory. It will also advise pioneers of the dangers associated with these new virtual environments. Orange will develop skills for those interested in operating in the metaverse. In addition, a physical ODC will also open in September in Luxembourg City.
Understanding
There’s much talk about the metaverse but not enough understanding, said Orange in a release. Many industry players are struggling to perceive this deceptive environment which mixes many technological approaches and multiplies our bewilderment through alternative sensory experiences. Through this virtual ODC, Orange wants to invite stakeholders and start-ups to discover the positives possibilities offered by the metaverse, it said. On the other hand, it wishes to make users aware of good practices and the dangers associated with these environments.
See how you develop
Corinne Lozé, CEO Orange Luxembourg, wants to take users through the metaverse and make them more cognisant of the good and bad that exists in every metaverse. “The Orange Digital Centers are support and development centers for digital skills that already exist elsewhere in the physical world,” said Lozé, in a press conference organised in the metaverse. “Considering the stakes inherent in the development of metaverses, it seemed important to us to open up such a space at the heart of these virtual environments.”
Abuses
The metaverse is going to be an inclusive place, said Barbara Fangille, Head of communication Orange Luxembourg. Everyone will be encouraged to evolve in these spaces in the future. “It is important for Orange to position itself in the metaverse and help our customers find their place in this space,” said Fangille, “These technologies will allow the development of new immersive experiences, and to consider other ways of interacting. Anticipating and getting a good understanding of the technology should allow people to evolve in them with complete peace of mind or to prevent certain possible abuses. It is our social responsibility to allow everyone to adopt good practices related to the use of technology.”
Attractions?
There will be a wide variety of content, in addition to the inevitable conferences related to technological innovation. Other material will include metaverse awareness training. Will this be enough to bring the crowds flocking to the metaverse?
Don’t have to go all crypto
The Luxembourg Metaverse presents itself as a virtual reality space accessible to all, said Orange. This Orange Digital Center is the second space inaugurated by Orange Luxembourg in the heart of the Luxembourg metaverse. The operator opened a physical shop in Luxembourg City in June. “The benefit of the Luxembourg Metaverse is that it is accessible to everyone, ideal for discovering this virtual reality without having to be exposed to more complex technologies such as crypto or NFTs. You can access it in a few clicks and you can easily walk around it, whether or not you have a virtual reality headset. Through this laboratory, we want to meet a wide variety of users,” said Fangille.
