Orange opens 5G Lab in Warsaw – its 12th incubator

The Orange 5G Lab in Poland exemplifies how Jordanians can dabble with virtual reality, augmented reality and all business realities in the 5G world.

Once Poland assigns its frequencies inventions will be ready

Orange Poland has launched a 5G Lab at its Warsaw headquarters. It adds to Orange’s Europe portfolio of labs in Belgium, France and Romania and is one of 12 incubator in total. The lab will allow businesses across Poland the chance to explore the potential of 5G. The facility is divided into a Showroom section for sales and a Developer section for engineers.

The Showroom presents systems and services in the field of virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), video analytics based on artificial intelligence (AI), real-time monitoring of resources, critical communications such as Push to Talk and Push to Video (PTT/PTV), autonomous mobile robots and drones. All will operate in the 3.6 GHz target frequency for 5G, which has been made available for testing by consent of the polish Office of Electronic Communications (UKE). Data transmission in the network runs at 850 Mbps.

The Developer section will house Orange partners, specifically start-ups participating in the Orange Fab programme. Here they can create, test and develop systems and services that use 5G, with the support of Orange experts. They can work in a complete ecosystem comprising the 5G mobile network, Edge Computing solutions, IoT platforms and relevant components of 5G such as comms modules, routers, AR lasses, VR headsets or cameras. Some of products and services developed here can then be showcased in the showroom, making it easier to commercially deploy the solution and reach potential customers.

“5G will be a very significant boost that will enable further development and dynamic digitization of the Polish economy and we can launch new services as soon the frequencies necessary to build 5G in Poland are made available,” said Julien Ducarroz, CEO of Orange Polska.

A Dynata survey conducted in January shows that 74% of companies in Poland feel their business will need support from a telecom service provider with developing and testing 5G services and applications on a live version of the next generation of 5G networks.
