The Nokia 1830 Photonic Service Demarcation (PSD) extends the optical network to ONI Telecom’s customers’ premises.
Given the mission-critical nature of the wavelength and Ethernet services supported by the Nokia 1830 PSD, ONI needs to provide service level agreements (SLAs) up to the customer premises or demarcation point.
Nokia says the unit will give ONI the end-to-end visibility necessary to meet the SLAs for its retail enterprise and wholesale data centre interconnect and cloud service offerings.

Nokia claims the 1830 PSD is the industry’s first universal Ethernet and Wavelength service demarcation device, based on a new MEF 3.0 standard. In a statement, Nokia said the device “will enable ONI to manage and monitor its entire transport network, end-to-end.
“It effectively extends ONI’s optical domain management system, the Nokia NFM-T, across the entire network, up to and including the 1830 PSD at the customer premises.”
