Nokia and Nordic Telecom have launched what they claim is the world’s first Mission Critical Communication (MCC)-ready LTE network in the 410-430 MHz band.
The recently opened 410-430 MHz band will serve as a dedicated spectrum for MCC/PPDR (public protection and disaster relief) and IoT solutions in Europe.
The Czech operator says it wants to “jumpstart” public protection and disaster relief efforts with innovative services only possible on mobile broadband networks.
Critical requirements
The LTE network will enable real-time video and data services. It will also meet other critical communications requirements such as high security, high data rates and low latency, as well as wide area coverage supported by low frequency bands.
Nokia will deploy it’s LTE radio network solution, IP network technology and Dense Wavelength Division Multiplex (DWDM) technology, and will install Mission Critical Push to Talk (MCPPT) application solutions like Group Communication.
