MobiledgeX claims it can drive a QoS to 5G mobile edge in seconds

Finally these software developers have the omnipotence they need with ‘write once, install everywhere’ option

MobiledgeX Edge has announced that application developers can now define their 5G quality of service (QoS) policies for the edge networks in ne stroke. Which could save vital engineering time for the 25 mobile operators that now use its Edge-Cloud systems. This new system ‘creates federation’ (i.e. unity) between any standards-based mobile edge computing system, the comms system vendor says. This is an important development, says MobileDgeX, because it gives edge application developers the power to write once, deploy everywhere when working with mobile networks.

Put the kettle on, deploy, time for tea

This breakthrough comes as MobiledgeX announced version 3.1 of its MobiledgeX Edge-Cloud platform. The policy change is for an application using a MobiledgeX application programming interface (API). MobiledgeX then interacts with the 5G network to configure the defined policy, simplifying the application publishing process for mobile operators who, until now, have had to manually configure QoS policies on behalf of its developer partners.

Talking at QoS purposes

MobiledgeX has worked with 200 software developers to create consumer and enterprise applications across every major vertical, including media and entertainment, manufacturing, automotive, healthcare and retail. These developers have all browbeaten MobiledgeX, stressing their desire for the simplicity of cloud deployment on mobile networks. They want a standardised, federated edge that any operator can run and any user can access, in any region, according to Michael Lochead, SVP of products for MobiledgeX. This new system is a major step toward achieving this goal, said Lochead.

QoS the network in seconds

“We’ve deployed edge clouds all over the world but not every site interconnects with every edge cloud ever deployed by any operator,” said Lochead. “Today, it’s easier to connect our expanding number of edge clouds within 25 mobile network operator footprints to other standards-based edge platforms. This instantly expands the number of edge sites MobiledgeX
