SiRRAN Communications and TD-Mobile will support its push into secure, private networks with new mobile core and connectivity solutions.
For the first time in its history, NetNumber, which provides software infrastructure and data services to mobile operators, is to grow by acquisition rather than organically.
The company, which is headquartered in Lowell, Massachusetts, US, has entered into agreements to acquire the Irish-UK firm SiRRAN Communications and TD-Mobile, whose headquarters are in Liechtenstein.
Core expertise
SiRRAN Communications’ NetCore LTE solution is a lightweight, programmable, evolved packet core suited to decentralised networks deployed to support defence and national security and public safety, plus hazardous industrial environments like mining, oil and gas and maritime.
TD-Mobile is mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) that provides secure connections to private and public entities. It enables subscribers to securely roam between private networks and spans a global network of more than 1,500 mobile networks.
It is used by government and military agencies as well as enterprises operating overseas that need to secure voice and data communications from the local mobile operator’s network.
Network infrastructure
NetNumber says they will complement and expand the company’s portfolio in the mobile core network, enabling it to offer a broader range of end-to-end core network infrastructure, including evolved packet core (EPC) products and global connectivity services.
NetNumber’s software-based signalling-control, security, and subscriber database solutions are designed to speed the delivery of new services like 5G and private networking across multi-generational networks –from 2G to 5G – simplifying the core and reducing OpEx. TITAN.IUM is a cloud-native solution built on the success of TITAN, an NFV-compliant solution.
Sue Rudd, Director Networks and Service Platforms for Strategy Analytics, observed, “Private networks are a key growth area for operators as they provide controlled, secure access to specific groups.
“These acquisitions will enable NetNumber to expand [its] innovative approach to private networks and facilitate new capabilities to operators across both legacy and future networks.”
Kevin Peters, NetNumber’s President and CEO said, “These companies open new markets for our combined solutions…NetNumber is well-positioned to serve and safeguard the networks of our [300] premium global customers now and into the future, including in burgeoning areas such as private networks and 5G.
