MWC – ZTE Debuts World’s First LTE-A CoMP Prototype

ZTE, a global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, today showcased its LTE Advanced (LTE-A) prototype in Spain, which is the first LTE-A CoMP (Coordinated Multipoint Transmission) prototype in the world. During the demonstration, the system achieved downstream peak speeds of over 1Gbps, enabling participants to become the first to experience the speeds offered by fourth generation wireless communication technologies. ZTE also unveiled plans to introduce commercial LTE-A products in 2012, in response to the growing demand for high-speed data communications.

ZTE’s LTE-A prototypes incorporate a number of key technologies, such as carrier aggregation, multi-antenna enhancement, relay technology, and multi-point joint transmission. Through the use of CoMP technology in the solution, throughput on the edge is dramatically increased.
