Mobile Europe has launched a survey into the Software Defined Networking and Network Function Virtualisation markets, as operators gear up with their trials and implementation strategies.
The survey, sponsored by Juniper Networks, aims to discover the key trends behind both markets and examine just how convinced operators are by the benefits.
A number of operators have already launched their own SDN or NFV products. Telefonica is aiming to virtualise 30 percent of its network by 2016 and Telekom Austria subsidiaries Mobitel and Vipnet have carried out NFV trials.
A full report of the survery’s findings wil be published in the August issue of Mobile Europe, which will feature a special report into the SDN And NFV sectors.
Mobile Europe Editor Graeme Neill said: “Both the SDN and NFV markets are generating a large amount of debate in the industry, with a great deal of excitement about their potential.
“Our survey will uncover the key areas that will be virtualised, when virtualisation strategies are likely to be implemented and how convinced operators are about the benefits of SDN and NFV.”
