KDDI, Orange Business Services to bring IoT to 1mn vehicles in Europe

Vehicle makers Toyota and Mazda will deploy connected car capabilities for better customer experience on a platform that covers 63 countries and territories.

Japanese telco KDDI has chosen Orange Business Services to provide a customised IoT platform for the automotive manufacturers Toyota and Mazda. The platform will allow them to offer connected car capabilities in their vehicles sold across Europe.

The Orange solution will initially enable the Japanese automotive manufacturers to offer connected services across 63 European countries/territories, via Orange cellular connectivity.
 
The Orange Business Services connectivity management solution integrates directly into KDDI’s own platform and provides IoT connectivity that will be used by Toyota and Mazda to deliver “advanced services”.

Cloud connections are  via Orange’s backbone networks to secure interconnections between the parties’ platforms.
