Ahead of Mobile World Congress, Ericsson has made a series of new announcements dealing with mobile broadband coverage and capacity; mobile services management; and applications and device testing.
The vendor is extending its Antenna Integrated Radio (AIR) portfolio with the launch of AIR 32, a new solution that allows for the introduction of LTE and HSPA without requiring additional antennas or radio units to be added to network sites.
Further, it cuts down on radio equipment by 50 percent by combining multiple active frequencies in a single unit.
Compared with existing AIR products, the vendor said the AIR 32 improves mobile broadband performance with 70 percent higher throughput and offers a 25 percent increase in indoor coverage.
Mobile Order Management
Based on software from the acquisition of ConceptWave, meanwhile, Ericsson is debuting a Mobile Order Management solution.
This enables operators to provide enterprise customers with self-service portals and tools for ordering employee smartphones and tablets, plus managing and delivering the applications and services needed on the devices.
Ericsson claims that operators can cut down the time needed to launch a service from six months to less than a week.
The solution also allows operators to chop and change proven and tested components that can be quickly assembled to produce new product offerings.
“Our Mobile Order Management solution gives mobile operators the ability to streamline their Lead to Service process while providing their customers with new opportunities to enjoy the latest services and applications the market has to offer,” commented Elisabetta Romano, head of OSS at support solutions.
Device and Application Verification
Finally, Ericsson has introduced a Device and Application Verification service to enable vendors to test the quality of applications and M2M devices to make sure they comply with regulatory, international and specific network requirements.
