Partnership follows successful pilot in Orange Poland’s production network
DZS successfully completed the first phases of a live pilot solution deployment of its Velocity fibre access portfolio within Orange’s live network in Poland. DZS specialises in access, optical and AI-driven cloud software.
Orange says it is the largest FTTH service provider in Europe with over 13 million residential, business and campus subscribers and constantly seeks partners as part of its multi-vendor strategy.
PON and point-to-point
DZS’ optical line terminals are environmentally hardened and range from a single rack unit with two-slot fixed access systems to 16-slot chassis systems, complemented by system-on-a-card technology common to all systems.
This, according to the vendor, gives network operators like Orange multiple options to leverage PON and point-to-point solutions via any service port across the range of DZS systems, including stackable options.
Gilles Bourdon, Vice President of Wireline Networks and Infrastructure, Orange, said, “DZS was given the opportunity to become part of our ecosystem, and we are working closely with them to meet our expectations from today’s 2.5 Gigabit Passive Optical network (GPON), 10G (XGS-PON) and point-to-point technologies; in a context of heterogenous situations coming from the diversity of countries where we operate.”
DZS allows operators to support gigabit and/or multi-gigabit services today, and in future promises low-latency 50/100-gigabit capacity.
