The deployment expands du’s long-standing relationship with Nokia
The Emirates Integrated Telecommunication Company’s du is to deploy Nokia’s Multi-Access Gateway (MAG) to provide broadband to residential and business users over fixed wireless access (FWA).
The MAG will support 4G and 5G for FWA and mobile services. du will also deploy Nokia’s FastMile 5G gateways and call on its professional services.
The Nokia MAG relies on 7750 Service Routers to deliver broadband services over fibre or FWA so that du can offload FWA traffic from its mobile core network to better scale services, improve coverage and shorten time to market.
Saleem Al Blooshi, Chief Technology Officer, du, said, “As a trailblazer…du takes immense pride in being the first in the MEA region to implement this ground-breaking solution.”
Rima Manna, Vice President, Middle East Market Unit at Nokia MEA, added, “Fixed-wireless access is becoming a game-changer for bringing innovative broadband services to residential and business users. Nokia is committed to helping mobile and converged operators develop new applications and revenue streams with FWA.”
