The operator now provides 4G coverage in 98.7% of the country and is continuing to densify that coverage.

Telekom Deutschland, the domestic arm of the German telecoms group Deutsche Telekom (DT), says it has installed 5G at 892 locations across the country in the past two months.

4G/LTE can be provided from the same locations using dynamic spectrum sharing (DSS) tech.

Telekom has also added more LTE capacity to 1,690 locations and installed 4G at 464 new locations, increasing population coverage to 98.7%.

Two-thirds of the population now have access to 5G services.

Walter Goldenits, Managing Director of Technology at Telekom Deutschland, “We are pushing the pace with the mobile network expansion. We currently have more than 32,000 locations in operation.

“In addition, we set up more than 1,500 new locations every year. Moreover, there are LTE and 5G expansions at thousands of existing locations. As part of our massive expansion activities, 5G will become the new standard in Telekom’s cellular network.”
