Axell Wireless launches in-building coverage solution

Axell Wireless has unveiled an in-building coverage solution which is aimed at delivering better network coverage.

The company said its new idDAS solution will allow mobile operators to allocate capacity to locations where and when it is needed.

idDAS is based on Axell’s patented signal processing and filtering technology which gives low noise performance resulting in increased base station throughput.

The solution operates with every major wireless technology including GSM, UMTS, WCDMA and LTE, and supports all major frequency bands used by mobile operators.

The system also includes an embedded 1GB IP backhaul per remote, allowing the use of one common cabling infrastructure throughput for WiFi and other IP traffic.

The solution’s set-up and commissioning is handled through an automated configuration tool with many auto-setup features.

The capacity solution allows operators to allot maximum capacity. For example, a network could reroute extra capacity from offices in the afternoon to homes and shopping centres in the evening when demand has increased there.

Axell said that the solution can be used for either single or multi-operator deployments as it allows each individual operator total flexibility and control over the allocation of different wireless services within a building facility.

Ian Brown, CEO, Axell Wireless commented: “idDAS is a revolutionary new concept for distributed antenna systems and one we believe will bring significant cost savings for mobile operators around the world.”

The vendor has deployed solutions in many building facilities including the London 2012 Olympic Park, the US Department of Homeland Security, and Heathrow Airport Terminal 5 in London.

Axell was also selected by EE and Vodafone recently to deploy its DAS system in the Channel Tuneel alongside Alcatel Lucent.
