Hay Systems has announced that its HSL 2.75G Femtocell has successfully completed CE certification, proving its compliance with 3GPP standards and enabling the femtocell to be sold in Europe and other markets around the world. In conjunction with CE certification having been achieved, HSL is offering Femtocell Trial Kits at a 'very low price' to allow interested parties to more easily and cost effectively experience the benefits of HSL's femtocell solution. The femtocell product from HSL is said to be the most capable and inexpensive femtocell on the market today that conforms to the pico-class GSM specification.
The HSL 2.75G Femtocell's performance is claimed to be unique among other femtocells currently available on the market. It is capable of GSM, GPRS and EDGE so that voice, SMS, MMS and data services can be enabled, with up to 14 simultaneous voice calls being possible. The HSL 2.75G Femtocell is also claimed to be the only femtocell that has an addressable market of more than 4 billion GSM mobile subscribers and over 400 million 3GSM subscribers.
The HSL 2.75G Femtocell Trial Kit provides two femtocells, Base Station Controller (BSC) software and one year of support and maintenance for the price of USD 7200. The BSC in the Trial Kit can be used with an SGSN supporting Gb-over-IP for GPRS/EDGE, and a suitable IP-based MSC or optionally a TDM-based MSC with E1 line cards.
The femtocell can be applied to resolving coverage problems, improving subscriber experience and reducing OPEX through a reduction in the cost of mobile service delivery. HSL says the femtocell is targeted at residential, enterprise, retail, transport, government and military use.
