The worldwide market for handheld devices experienced a slight sequential gain in the second quarter of 2004 but, despite strong shipments from top 5 vendors palmOne and Medion, was unable to post a year-over-year increase. According to IDC’s Worldwide Handheld QView, device shipments increased 3.2% sequentially and dropped 2.2% year-over-year in 2004 to 2.2 million units.
